King RinkitinkKing of the Land of Rinkitink. He is a fat little man dressed in purple robes and a white velvet cap with golden threads and diamonds sewn around the band. His face is round and rosey and he has a rollicking laugh. He slips away from his palace and duties in Gilgad to visit Pingaree, and while there the island is raided by marauding warriors who pillage all the homes and carry off the people for slaves. Rinkitink escapes capture by falling into a well, and subsequently he and Bilbil join Prince Inga in a quest to free the Pingareeans from their dreadful life of slavery on Regos and Coregos. |
