He was once a shoemaker in Herku, until he discovers the magic receipes of his ancestors. Thereupon, he decides to become a powerful sorcerer and take possession of the Land of Oz as its ruler. He moves away from Herku and builds a Wicker Castle in the west of the Winkie Country. After stealing the Magic Dishpan from Cayke, he uses it to steal the magic of Ozma, Glinda, and the Wizard of Oz. He kidnaps Ozma in the process and hides her in the form of an Enchanted Peach. He is finally defeated by Dorothy using the Nome King's Magic Belt to tranform him into a dove.
