Hammerheads

These are the hostile inhabitants of a hill which lies between China Country and the southern part of the Quadling Country. They are armless, have flat heads, and their necks can stretch out very rapidly. In this way they use their flat heads to strike other people. Dorothy's first use the Golden Cap is to command the Winged Monkeys to take her and her friends over the Hammerheads' hill so they can continue on their way to see Glinda the Good.
