She and her ten children were sold by King Evoldo to the Nome King who changed them into purple bric-a-brac in his underground palace. Ozma and the Army of Oz embark on an expedition to rescue her and her children from this cruel state. Enroute to the Nome King's Caverns, they are joined by Dorothy, Billina, and Tiktok, which proves to be very fortunate for all concerned because Billina proves to be the key to the defeat of the Nome King and the liberation of those he has imprisoned in ornamental form.
