Use the Status Messages option to display any outstanding operator requests, and to respond to them. Operator requests are usually host generated requests to mount additional volumes for backup and restore processes. The Status Messages option can be used only by users with BACKUP.UNET operator privileges.


Listing Outstanding Operator Requests

  1. From the main dialog, choose Status Messages to display the Messages dialog (Figure 11-1).

  2. All operator requests for the current host are displayed.

  3. To update the Messages dialog to display any new operator requests, click the Update button.

Answering Requests

  1. From the Messages dialog, select the message to which you want to respond.

    Note: Be sure that you have completed the action indicated in the selected message. For example, be sure you have loaded the requested volume in the specified device.

  2. Click the Yes button to respond to the message. Responding with Yes tells BACKUP.UNET to proceed with the operation in progress.

  3. To cancel the request, click the No button.
