Use the Manage Admin Files option of the BACKUP.UNET main dialog to edit the worklist and recycle script. (You can also edit any file in the $NBK home directory with this option.)


Editing a Worklist File

A worklist specifies the areas of your UNIX file system that will be backed up. (For more information on the worklist, refer to the BACKUP.UNET Customization and Reference Guide.)

Note: Before editing your worklist, you should save a copy of the file under a different name using the UNIX cp copy command.

  1. From the main dialog, select Manage Admin Files to display the File Editor dialog.

  2. The Worklist is the default file option for the Which File field.

  3. Click the Open button to display the contents of the default worklist (Figure 8 1).

  4. Modify the worklist.

  5. To save the changes click the Save button. To exit without saving the changes click the Close button.

Editing the Recycle Script

The recycle script defines the timeframe within which to recycle dumps and volume segments. (For more information about recycling and the recycle script, refer to the BACKUP.UNET Customization and Reference Guide.)

Note: Before editing your recycle file, you should save a copy of the file under a different name using the UNIX cp copy command.

  1. From the main dialog, select Manage Admin Files to display the File Editor dialog.

  2. From the Which File field select Recycle Script.

  3. Click the Open button to display the contents of the recycle script (Figure 8-2).

  4. Modify the recycle script.

  5. To save the changes click the Save button. To exit without saving the changes click the Close button.

Editing Other Files

Other files you can edit using the File Editor dialog include any files in the $NBK directory. Refer to the BACKUP.UNET Customization and Reference Guide for more information.

  1. Choose Manage Admin Files to display the File Editor dialog.

  2. From the Which File field select Other.

  3. Click the Open button to display a pop up dialog (Figure 8 3).

  4. Enter the name of a file and click the OK button.

  5. The contents of the selected file are displayed in the File Editor dialog.

  6. Modify the file as necessary.

  7. To save the changes click the Save button. To exit without saving the changes click the Close button.

Deleting a File

  1. From the main dialog, select Manage Admin Files to display the File Editor dialog.

  2. Display the file to be deleted in the File Editor dialog.

  3. Click the Delete button.

  4. The system prompts you to confirm the deletion. To delete the file, click the OK button. To cancel the deletion, click the Cancel button.
