The main dialog (Figure 3 1) contains menu bar options representing the major functional areas of BACKUP.UNET.
The main dialog is also used to manage the BACKUP.UNET hosts. The currently defined hosts are displayed in the Hosts list box. For detailed information, see Chapter 6, Managing the Network Configuration.

The BACKUP.UNET main dialog contains three menu bar options. Each option represents a pull down menu.
Select the Backup option to display the Backup menu

- The Backup option displays the Backup Configuration dialog. From this dialog you can:
- Add, delete, or modify backup configuration records
- Choose a configuration to be run with a backup
- Start a backup job
- The Restore option displays the Restore dialog. From this dialog you can:
- Build a list of the files you want to restore
- Set properties to be used during file search and restore
- Start a restore job
- The Volumes option displays the Volumes dialog. From this dialog you can:
- Display all volumes associated with a specific device and pool
- Add or delete volumes from a pool, or modify volume information
-Compute the size of a mounted volume
-Read the electronic volume label of a mounted volume
-Scan a mounted volume to list the names of all the backed up files on the volume
- The Backup Scheduler option displays the Backup Scheduler dialog. From this dialog you can create, delete, or modify a schedule to run backup jobs automatically.
- The Help option displays information about the BACKUP.UNET main dialog.
- The Close All Windows option immediately closes all open BACKUP.UNET dialogs except the main dialog.
- The Update All Windows option updates the fields in any open BACKUP.UNET dialog that displays system information.
- The Exit option immediately closes all open BACKUP.UNET dialogs, exits the BACKUP.UNET software, and returns you to the system prompt.
- The Copyright Notice option displays software copyright information. Using the Status Option Select the Status option to display the Status menu

- The Daemons option displays an information dialog reporting the status of the daemons on the current host.
- The Backups/Restores option displays the Backup and Restore Jobs dialog. This dialog shows the key, type, status, process ID, and estimated completion time of any backup or restore jobs. Use this option to cancel backup and restore jobs.
- The Log file option displays the Log File dialog and the contents of the 'nbkLOG' file. From this dialog you can also set the logging properties to determine the detail and type of messages written in the log file.
- The Messages option displays the Messages dialog. From this dialog you can display and answer all outstanding operator messages for the currently selected host.

- The Tables option displays a cascading menu from which you can add, delete, and modify information in the Operators table, Pools table, Devices table, and Dumps table.
- The Daemons option displays a cascading menu from which you can start, stop, and kill the BRP and IOP daemons.
- The Admin Files option displays the File Editor dialog from which you can maintain the worklist, recycle script, and other files.
- The Portmapper option displays the Cleanup Portmapper dialog from which you can check and remove erroneous program number registrations of programs that have terminated and not unregistered.
