Looking for Rosa McMahan supposedly from Belton area, Anderson County, SC. Married James Clayton Campbell. No birth dates but born in the latter 1800's. Married the turn of the century years. Children born very early 1900's. She died in 1959 and he in 1970's. Beginning research on both lines.
I'm looking for the father of Robert Clay McMahan. Family stories indicate his mother was Roseanna Margarett Adkins, daughter of John G. Adkins and Nancy Covey. Robert Clay married Edna E. Pell of Paducah, Kentucky, where they resided most of their lives. Robert was possibly the youngest of nine children. Robert and Edna had seven children, two boys and five girls. The boys were Charles Marshal McMahan and Robert Clay McMahan, Jr. Charles was my grandfather and died in 1967 in Seattle, Washington. Robert Jr. died in 1980 in Lakeland, Florida. Both Robert Sr. and Charles were building contractors in Paducah, Kentucky. If anyone can give me some direction as to who Robert's father was it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Looking for descendents of Jean MURRAY and John MCMAHAN who married in Lancaster or Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania abt 1780. Jean was the d/o Col. John MURRAY and Margaret MAYES. Any ties to your lines?
My family on my father's side came from Summertown, TN. I have been able to go back as far as my great-grandfather. Not much more is known. Some gravesites exist at Pleasant Garden Cemetery where a one-room church used to stand and McMahans, Walkers, Ratcliffes, Crosswaithes and many more familiar southern familes are found with some very old tombstones that date to the early 1800's. The church burned down several years ago but the cemetery remains open. Starting with my great grandfather:
James L. McMahan (25 Oct 1861 - 10 Dec 1921) had a brother named Vernon and sister named Ann.SMcma35269@aol.com
James L. McMahan married Louise Elisabeth Walker (19 Oct 1871- Jan 1936).
James and Louise had eight children:
Samuel Henry McMahan (23 Mar 1898 - 8 Sep 1964) married Belle [Unknown] (7 Jul 1903 - 15 Jul 1975).
William Albert McMahan (14 May 1895 - 17 Jun 1951) married Mollie Burdella [Unknown] 24 Sep 1901 - 31 Jan 1990).
Andrew Frank McMahan (10 Oct 1900 - 18 Oct 1939) married Ollie Mae Nabors (Feb 1910 - 24 Nov 1950).

I have two McMahans listed: Elendor or Nellie, married James E. BOONE. He was born 1832, Burke County, NC. She was born around 1829 and died 1860. I have listed her mother as Mary McMahan but no dad. Also I have listed Jeremiah BOONE as having married Sarah McMAHAN but no dates. These were all in NC, Burke County or Burnsville. I haven't had time to date these. Some are other sources rather than census.
I am researching the McMahan family of Kansas. William S. McMahan born approximately 1867 in Kansas, son of John H. McMahan and Mary E. Marshman, married Iva B. McKinney from Illinois. They moved to Oregon and had two children, Thomas Otis (Chatham) McMahan and Maude Clair (Maybelle) McMahan. William worked as an electric motorman in North Salem, Oregon, in 1907. At some time they went to California where William died in 1917 and Iva, his wife, died in 1986. Chatham T. McMahan died in the Veterans home in Yountvill, Napa County, California.
We are McMahans from Tennessee, Sevier County. I am looking for Aaron McMahan. I was in hopes that I would find his name here, but I guess this is the wrong line. Aaron was killed in 1896 by the White Caps here in Sevier County. They were like the KKK in a way. There is a book published about them (White Caps) and he has his own chapter in it telling of the murder. I cannot find any other info before him. He married Caroline Green in 1868 and they had many children. I have come to a brick wall. I have always been told by my father-in-law that a lot of the kids moved west, like to Texas or Arkansas. I have some info on that. Thanks.
I have a ggg-grandfather, John Riley McMAHAN, who married Mary Jane MULLINS. Their son was James Matthew McMAHAN, married to Sarah Nancy PURKEYPILE. James Matthew was born 7 Dec 1861 in Mendota, Putnam County, MO. I would appreciate any information on him, as I do not know his father or siblings. This is as far back as I have gotten on my McMAHAN side. I have checked Smoky Mountain and have not made any connections.

I too am doing research on the McMahan family. I am a descendant of John Riley McMahan, of Missouri. One of his sons, John Calvin, moved to Sherman County, Nebraska. John Calvin is my great-grandfather. I ended up in Arkansas.
I am looking for a Cecil McMahan, John Calvin's youngest son. Cecil, my grandfather, disappeared when my father was little, and I have had no luck tracking him down. I have no desire whatsoever to contact him, only to find out where he went, and is he still even alive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. All of the information I have seen ends with John R....I would be able to add to that if anyone desires. Thank you for your time, and please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks again.
Trying to find information on Andrew McMAHAN who married Jane WALKER and was father of Cathy Ann McMAHAN born 1808. Cathy married John Moore PAXTON. Any info appreciated.

I would like to give some info on McMahan I have.
-- 16 Feb 1769 John McMahan petitioned to build a public mill on Hoggans Creek, Rowan Co., NC/
-- 17 Feb 1769, John McMahan was appointed constable for the forks of the Yadkin River area, NC.
-- 13 Feb 1770, bill of sale to Adam Mitchell from John McMahan. Adam Mitchell married Elizabeth McMahan in 1769.
-- John McMahan created will 8 July 1776 and probated/administered on 31 July 1776. Administered in Pennsylvania. The children I know of for this John McMahan are: James, Samuel, Jean/Jane, Agnes, Katherine. Possibly also a John Jr., Mary, Andrew and Wm.
-- There is a James McMahan born 1714 married a Suzanne [Unknown]. This James died in Rowan Co., NC, in 1799.
-- There is a James McMahan gaining plat of land 14 May 1754 in Rowan Co., NC.
My interest in McMahan is that Jean/Jane McMahan, found in July will of 1776 of John McMahan of Rowan Co., NC, married James Pursley -- my line. It has been in dispute among Pursley researchers for many years whether this Jean McMahan was really the wife of James Pursley. I think so. So Jean McMahan was dau of John McMahan. This Jean McMahan we know married in Antrim Co., Ulster, around 1740. Her first son was my John born about 1744. Pursley we know was in Ulster up to about 1764-66, due to birth places of children, etc. Their last child, David was only one born in US in 1768.

Looking for info on Abner McMahan (b. ca. 1810 OH), married ca. 1839 Rebecca Jones (b. ca. 1820 OH). Had children: Mathias (1840-1927), Benjamin (ca. 1841-?), James (ca. 1843-?), Henry (1846-?), and possibly Mary (post. 1850-?) who married a Rev.Pickles(?). Resided Crawford County, OH, 1850. No record of family members before or after the 1850 census, except for Mathias who is in Porter County, IN, from before 1860 until his death in 1927.
Rueben McMahan (McMahon) born in Ohio ca 1825, (probably Lawrence Co, OH) and is probably the son of Stephen McMahan who lived in Lawrence, Scioto Counties, OH, and in Greenup Co, KY, on the 1850 census. Reuben lived in Hamilton County, Illinois, by 1848 and married America Ann McElvaine on 1 Apr 1848. Stephen didn't move to IL until about 1855 and he was there on 1860 census.
Stephen married first Mary Lunsford and second Nancy Thompson. It is believed that Mary Lunsford was the mother of Reuben, but that has not been proven.
Stephen was in the War of 1812 from VA and Reuben was a veteran of the Mexican War.
I am trying to research my husband's roots for my grandchildren.
His father, Joseph David McMahan, Sr., came from Trinidad, Colorado, and married Florence Zimmer of Chicago.
Joseph's father was, we think, Earl McMahan of Trinidad, Colorado, who was married to Anna Downey. They had three children.... Joseph David born March 8, 1907, we believe in Trinidad; Harold born October 22, 1908; and Helen. Any help getting background on Earl and Anna Downey would be appreciated.

I am a descendant of Archibald McMahan. Our family lore is that a male McMahan sailed from Ireland with his 12 sons. He died aboard ship and was buried at sea. The voyage was about 6 months long. Arch is one of these sons. I have listed his wife as (Ann?) McNulty. Several of his male descendants have this as their middle or 1st name. I also have him listed as b. in AL. Arch resided in TN for many years. One family member states Arch had property in NC, although he has not been able to prove it. I would appreciate more information on his pension since other family member have not been able to locate it. Arch's grandson William McMahan m. Mary Malinda Black was my g-g-grandfather. He was married 3 times. Thanks so much.

Matilda McMahan was born 1840 in Westport, MO, and married to Richard Smith Wait in Polk County, Oregon, in 1855. In a 1912 published WAITE family history, Matilda was stated to be a granddaughter of Daniel Boone. Yet is was Daniel's brother Israel whose daughter married a McMahan. Another web memo said Isreal and wife both died young and their children were all raised by Daniel and his wife. A look-up from Oregon states a Richard McMahan born 1812 in KY settled on land on Polk County, OR, in 1851. Other research shows many Boones moving to Oregon around 1846. Can anyone get from Israel Boone to Matilda McMahan?? Thanks much.

His eldest son was named John, born 22 Apr 1793 in Pennsylvania. John married 25 June 1819 in Hamilton County, Ohio, to Rachel Hugunin. I am descended from this couple.
I'm the granddaughter of Vula McMahan of Sand Mountain, Alabama, and was going through that branch's genealogy book "McMahan Blood" by Albert McMahan. "McMahan Blood" stated he possibly immigrated into Charleston around 1790 and was in Franklin Co. Georgia by 1818, when his son married Dicey Clark there. I'm not a serious student of genealogy but I do have degree in history. I'm mostly interested in the family's 18th and early 19th century history in America rather than who's related to who -- places more than people. I heard Albert McMahan was going to reissue McMahan Blood and have a mailing address for him, not e-mail, unfortunately, but if you have any info for me or if I can pass some to you, let me know.

I am trying to trace my grandmother's McMahan lineage. My grandmother was named Sarah Lucy McMahan, born 9/29/1894 in Independence County, AR. Her parents were Henry McMahan and Mary Eliza "Molly" Lane. Henry was born about 1860 of unknown place. He died in Independence Co., AR, about 1899. Mary Eliza Lane was born 11/28/1869 in Independence Co., AR. Supposedly, based on family stories, Henry's father was John Porter McMahan married to Sarah Lee?. They were married in NC near VA. I would appreciate any information on Henry or John Porter or any leads on which McMahan lineage they might be from. Thank you.

I have an ancestor named Moses Mcmahan. I cannot find anything pertaining to his pedigree or descendants. I am wondering if he might be a descendent of Israel Boone. He was born either ab.1784 in Wash. Co., PA, or 1790/91 in Kentucky. Records show he married a Betsy Snowden 1/15/1816 in Estill Co., Kentucky. Apparently she died, because 2/4/1836 he married Sarah (Holtzclaw-Adams) Groom, in Clinton Co., MO, where he is also listed in the 1860 and 70 census lists. Can anyone help me...PLEASE?!...before I go nuts?

John Jr.'s obit states he was born in Madison Co., AL. Bullard relatives were in Madison and Cherokee, AL. Assume that John Sr. died. I believe this to be son of Saunders McMahan and not the above John McMahan. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Please, I am looking for Daniel McMahan of Saline/Pettis Co., MO. I was given the following information and have requested the book to verify. Taylor consenting, to Mattie A Davis of Hughesville MO, her consenting, m. 16 August 1881 at Hughesville by E.M. Berry V.D.M. I'm assuming Daniel's mother married Mr. J.H. Taylor.
