Surnames...

I am hunting ancestors on a few different tracks.

First, on my dad's side, I am looking for information about the surname FROHMAN or FROMAN c. 1900 in Krasnovce, (Czecho)slovakia. This is the single most important strand of my family history, in that it is my direct patrilinear line. Although I wouldn't dream of changing it, my last name Patrick is really an Ellis Island Anglicization of Petric, the Slovak name of my father's father's step-father, John Petric.   My grandfather's birth name was Frohman.

Second, I am looking for others in my direct ancestry. The following is a list of the key surnames and patriarchs I am researching. These folks are all my direct matrilinear ancestors. By and large my research interests are in southeastern OHIO and northwestern (West) VIRGINIA. A handful are sprinkled throughout New England.

Allison, Short Robert; Baker|Becker, Baker, Bartlett, ; Bill; Billings; Booher; Brafford; Brown; Bryan; Burch, Eddy; Buzzard; Carney; Comstock; Connolly, George; Davis, Charles; Elderkin; Hall, Justus; Hesson; Hopkins, William Rodman; Hupp, Philip; McCurdy, Joshua B.; Menefee; Morris; Oakley; Scott; Udall

Third, I am blessed to have found two incredible manuscripts of cousins of mine in the ALLISON family, one by Dora Davis Farrington, and the other earlier work by William Wallace Allison. My publishing mission is to complete a full descendancy of "Short" Robert Allison through 1950 in the next millenium. This page is a big help in reaching that goal.

The following is a summary list of the surnames in my database and the number of hits in parentheses. If you have any hits, let me know! My email address is: bpatrick@halcyon.com

I believe in the free exchange of information, especially genealogical data. The internet supports this exchange of meaningful electrons. I support those genealogists who contribute the benefit of their experience, wisdom, and research to enrich the lives of those interested others who seek their roots. We can bring our family history to life by infusing it with meaning and quality. This endeavor should be, in the words of the beloved Helen C. Biedel, "for the love of it!"

THIEVES AND PLAGARISTS: HEAR YOU ME! I'm a LAWYER. I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND SUE YOU IF YOU USE ANY OF MY DATA FOR COMMERCIAL GAIN WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Examine your motivation and seek to improve yourself. If you are performing research to learn about yourself, your family, local history, social and political philosophy, the iterative quality of the American experience, and the like, great—let's be pen pals. If you are a money grubbing opportunist, freeloader and pillager of genealogical spoils for the purpose of sticking it to little old ladies based on unsolicited mass mailings, GO AWAY.
