Manitoba Earth Day Groceries Reports - 1998
There are 23 students in our classroom. We decorated 175
Earth Day grocery bags in just two days. We distributed our
bags to West end IGA. We used lots of different slogans on
our bags, for example: Don't Pollute, Save the Earth, Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle, Don't be a Litter Bug, etc.
This project was very exciting! We can't wait to participate
in the Earth Day Grocery Bags next year!

Two classes from our school participated in this fun project. (A
grade 2 & a 4/5 class) 40 bags were decorated. On the trip to deliver the bags
back to the grocery store, we cleaned the neighbourhood sidewalks and
boulevards.
Prior to delivery, we scanned a few of the bags and will post them on our web
page.

Bonjour! The students from the French Immersion School, Ecole
Marie-Anne Gaboury, decorated 480 bags for the local grocery store, Kaufman's.
The students really enjoyed this project last year so we decided to do it again
in 97! Good luck to all.

Greetings from snowy Manitoba! L,École Marie-Anne-Gaboury, a French
Immersion K to Grade 8 school, in Winnipeg, has decorated 250 Grocery
bags for our local store. The whole school was very excited to be part
of this Earth Day Project. On April 22nd, the Kindergarten will walk to
the store and hand deliver the bags. The children will parade with a
Earth Day sign just as the Berenstein Bears did in their book, Don`t
Pollute. Thank you for this wonderful awareness opportunity.

Greetings from Stony Mountain School in Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada,
After reading about your project on Kidsphere, we decided to follow up on
your idea. Unfortunately, our local store does not use paper bags anymore.
However, my student teacher lives in another town called Gross Isle, about
15 miles from here and works in the local store. Therefore, I would like to
report that we decorated 25 bags and made a poster to hang in the store to
announce which school had decorated the bags for Earth Day. I hope that you
add our small amount to your tally. Great Idea! This project has also been
used as one of our projects on our way to becoming a "Green School".
Regards,
Bonnie McMurren
