What we are learning that is interesting.
We are learning about geographers. Like what questions they ask to
learn about something.
What our teacher did this summer.
Ms. Sato walked 35 miles every week in the summer. She went hiking around a lake too.
Here are some things that our class thinks are interesting.
Rounding, homework, Puyallup Fair, base 5, reading: Fantastic Mr. Fox and Did You Carry the Flag
Today, Charley?, raising salmon, having auctions, playing a joke on Ms.Keegan, North Star desks, group
names, jobs, space shuttles, AWP, mood indicator, voting song, burying I can’t, I C who U R, Seattle
Times, book of jokes, Mr.Dorr, and speed reading.
“This summer I had a very interesting experience. I got a chance to work in a cherry orchard in The Dalles, Oregon as a tractor driver. My friends who own the cherry orchard asked my son and I to work there. It was my first experience working in agriculture. Farm work is extremely hard work, with no days off. They bring in over 100 pickers who harvest the crops. The pickers are like musicians the way they pick the fruit. They took over a million pounds of cherries off the orchard this summer. This experience helped reinforce how fortunate I am to be doing what I love to do.”
We are partitioning.
Went to the Netherlands and Switzerland.
What room 12 is doing interesting:
The world wide web on our computer. Last week we looked at the Arbor Heights home page and the Room 12
Top Ten List. This week we are going to look at Project Athena.
What Mr. Ahlness did interesting is he went on a hike and saw trees over 400 years old. He also got a lap top computer.
Rm. 8’s favorite joke:
Once upon a time there were three men. They were walking down a dirt road, and they came to a cliff. They
wanted to get across. Then an eagle came down and granted their wishes: One wished that he could fly, so he
flew across. One said that he wanted to be a pilot, so he flew across.
The third one tripped on a rock and said, “Ahh Crud!” and turned into a pile of crud and fell down the
cliff.
What Mr. Swan did this summer that was interesting:
He tore off the back of his new house. He found a wild life refuge between the ceiling and the roof; There were
birds nests, carpenter ants, wasps nests, rat and squirrel nests, playing cards, buttons, bottle caps and a
wedding invitation from 1932!
Right now in our class we are learning about snakes and our teacher is trying to teach us how to play the recorder. Our snake’s name is Reggie: he is a Python Regius. A couple of days ago Ms. Hass (our teacher) spotted Reggie's eyes. They were a milky gray color. She said he was getting ready to shed his skin. He hasn’t shed yet , but he’s pretty close to shedding. A few days ago our teacher gave us recorders and said we will be playing this instrument this year. And a few times we may play for the assemblies and other events.
Interesting things in our room:
We are studying suction cups. Mr. F. brought two plungers in the class. We could hang from the door way.
We tried to hang from the wall but it didn’t work. It was hard to pickup the plungers from the floor. We are
studying about suction cups because our gecko has suction cups that are so small you have to use a special
microscope to see them.
What our teacher did this summer:
My teacher did a lot of work on his house. He built a new roof and a porch. He made math problems for a
computer game and went to Hawaii with his family.
Something interesting that our classroom did was go to the Puyallup Fair.
Our teacher grew vegetables in her yard. She went to Washington Business week in Bellingham and went to a science program at the U.of W. for four weeks.
Do you know why Santa planted a garden?
So he could Ho Ho Ho!!!
What driver doesn’t have to have a license?
A screw driver!!!
In our classroom:
We went to the Puyallup Fair. I liked it because I pet the pigs and the chicks. I didn’t like it because we
didn’t have enough time. I really liked the pig races. It was exciting to see the pigs and chicks. I was not
excited about the sheep. We are studying slugs. We held them, they are slimy. It has a breathing hole, a
mantle and 4 tentacles. The color is tan with black dots and brown. We kept them in a terrarium and one of
them turned white.
Our teacher summer:
Mrs. Long turned 50!!! She was barefoot most of the summer. She went to Leavenworth to the same place
as news reporter Courtney, Haus Rorbauch. At Haus Rorbauch you can play games as late as you want.
