I want to wish all of our students, parents and staff a funfilled,
relaxing vacation. Spring Break begins on Monday, April 12th.
The fourth grade students will be taking the Washington Assessment of
Student Leaning (WASL) after Spring Break. Fourth grade teachers will be
sending home a testing schedule soon.
The Arbor Heights students who participated in the Spring Concert last
night at Whitworth did an excellent job. I want to thank them and Mr.
Holmes for representing Arbor Heights in such an outstanding manner.
Arbor Heights is continually looking for volunteers to work with students.
We are hoping to increase the number of volunteers that can supplement
classroom instruction. If you know of anyone who can give one hour per
week reading to a primary student, please encourage them to call the
office and sign up.
The Earth Day activities are gearing up. We are hoping to take the
groceries project to new heights this year. I want to thank Mr. Ahlness
for his efforts in making this program such a success.
Please remind Self Managers to continually wear their buttons. Self

Charles Holmes, the Instrumental Music teacher at Arbor Heights for our
4th and 5th grade students, presented another wonderful program last
night. We wish to thank Mr. Holmes and all the Instrumental Music
students who performed last night at Whitworth Elementary School. This is
another example of the Enrichment Program's we are able to offer thanks to
the generosity of the PTSA. Your PTSA has purchased a number of
instruments for our students to borrow, providing an opportunity for more
interested fourth and fifth graders to take music instruction.
Seattle Public Schools will be closed from April 12th - April 16th for
Spring Break. School will be back in session at it's regular time on
Monday, April 19th.
National TV Turnoff Week is April 22nd - 28th. Please have your child/ren

Attendance Phone Calls
As you may have heard there was a student abduction on Monday morning at
John Rogers Elementary. Please let us use this opportunity to reinforce
the necessity for parents/guardians to call us each time your child/ren is
going to be late or absent to school. The office staff spends a large
portion of the morning making phone calls trying to find absent/tardy
children to verify that the child is safe. The office phone number is
(206) 933-5350, you can call the night before or early in the morning as
we have voice mail on the phone during off hours if you can not call
between 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.
