"What
are your plans for Seafair weekend?"
(asked at the Kirkland
Library on 08-05-99; published in the EJ on 08-08-99

window)
Daniel Dociu, Video games art director, Redmond
"Working. Working some more. And doing some projects I've been putting off. We've attended the Blue Angels show in the past. It was fun."
Jamie Lee, Student & waiter, Redmond
"I'm going to be at work the whole weekend. But I have Sunday afternoon off, and I've been thinking about going and checking it out -- going down and seeing what's there."
Michelle Goldberg, Full-time mom, Kirkland
"We avoid Seafair. I have three small kids and I don't want to fight the crowds and the traffic. Everything's across the bridge... We used to like to go on the Mercer lid and watch the Blue Angels. Now I want to avoid all freeways -- even on normal days!"
Robyn Beebe, Children's counselor & student, Kirkland
"I don't have plans yet but maybe I'll go to some of the activities. I'm not very involved in Seafair. It just has never grabbed my attention. But the planes -- that's the most entertaining part."
Chris McClincy, Looking for work, Bellevue
"Just to watch the airplanes practice. They're just cool. All the stunts they do -- it's amazing! I'd love to go up there! ... Twenty-five years ago the Pirates came and saw me in the hospital. It was December. It wasn't Seafair. I thought that was so cool, too."
Linda Means, Looking for work, Woodinville
"We're going on a family picnic on Saturday. We're not going to Seafair but we'll probably watch the boat races on TV. I liked the older hydros. Nowadays it seems like whoever has the most money gets the best boat and wins, usually. In the old days, it was more of a sport and it was more exciting to me."
