[The water cooler - What Eastsiders are talking about - By Ann Garretson]

"How often do you dine out?"
(asked at Crossroads Shopping Center on 04-21-99; published in the EJ on 04-25-99)

[pt.]Byron Rosdahl, Retired, Bellevue
[blue rule]
"Four or five times a week, usually at Crossroads. My favorite place is probably the Mexican restaurant. But when my grandsons are with me, we have hamburgers."

[pt.]Brad Aungst, Fishmonger, Redmond
[blue rule]
"I dine out about five times a week. I like Chinese food, and Italian, and of course, seafood. I really like Beppo in downtown Seattle. That's really good. The atmosphere, and the food -- Italian -- and you get lots of it. And they have a great Chianti, an excellent wine selection."

[pt.]Marshal Caluya, Fishmonger, Monroe
[blue rule]
"Three to four times a week. My favorite places are Tommy's Sushi over in the U. district, and the Magic Dragon over in Seattle on Rainier Ave. S. Favorite kinds of food? All sushi, and the Hawaiian plate lunch -- macaroni salad and rice, with pork, chicken, fish or beef... If I'm going out with friends, if the food's good, I have no problem with the price."

[pt.]Lynn O'Brien, On-call nanny, Issaquah
[blue rule]
"Depending on my work schedule, probably anywhere from three to five times a week. I kind of like Cucina! Cucina! over in Issaquah. I like their Oriental Salad. That's good. And I like Mexican restaurants. It just depends on my mood."

[pt.]Barbara Hunter, Retired volunteer program director, Bellevue
[blue rule]
"Once a month. We've just discovered the Anthony's at Bell Street -- at the pier, on the waterfront in Seattle. We went to the Anthony's in Kirkland for many years and it's fun to discover a new one. And we like going into Seattle, and seeing the ferryboats. And in the evening, it's a lively area with pretty views of the city."

[pt.]Jude Oswald, Reupholsterer, Bellevue
[blue rule]
"Probably four times a week. I like to eat at Black Angus at Crossroads. I worked there for three and a half years. I like it -- the proportions, the prices. Comparatively, it's a very good deal. I like the barbequed things -- barbequed ribs, and barbequed chicken."
