"What
was the best, or worst, Halloween costume you ever
wore?"
(asked at Kirkland's
Marina Park on 10-22-98; published in the EJ on 10-25-98)
Bernie Reinholt, Regional salesperson, Renton
"I guess the best was Tinkerbell, when I was about 16. It was an old ballet costume with wings and slippers and everything. A bunch of us girls from Ravenhill Academy of the Assumption in Philadelphia put on a whole Peter Pan thing. It was a neat time."
Dick Noble, Model, Seattle
"I was a flasher once, and that was probably the best and the worst costume. It was too genuine. It got real exciting before the night was over. It was at a party, but then we ended up going to taverns -- that's when the pace of the action really picked up."
James Shepperd, Project planner, Kirkland
"I think the best was as a wolf. When my beard was long, I dyed my hair darker brown and put brown all over my face and then I wore fleece -- we bought some fur and sewed some fleece on the back of the fur to make it look like a wolf in sheep's clothing. And it worked well with my last name."
Kevin Casper, Small business consultant, Kirkland
"Oh, that had to be last year -- I dressed up as a woman, a big-breasted woman. And everything was falling apart by the end of the night. I liked it for the first ten minutes, but the rest of the night it was very uncomfortable."
Don Johnson, Machinist, Federal Way
"A few years ago, I went as a woman. My wife made me wear it. I looked like a 250-pound woman. The whole works. I didn't like it -- besides all the propositions I got. I thought it was my worst costume. My wife thought it was great."
Bill Kennedy, Marine maintenance, Bremerton
"A long time ago, just a bunch of black spots. It was a last minute throw-away thing because there was a party. I never really have been into Halloween. I'm only into it for my kids."
