"What's
your New Year's resolution?"
(asked at the Juanita
Starbucks on 12-31-97; published in the EJ on 01-04-98)
Geno Castagnoli, Non-conformist, Bothell
"Keep building my company -- a gutter cleaning service. I think New Year's resolutions are an opportunity for us to notice what we need to do. I'm going to stick with my resolution because I'm continuing what I've been doing for 14 months, 100 percent."
Kesa Huey, Dancer, Kirkland
"I'm a dancer, so my New Year's resolution would be to get a job in a ballet company. And this spring, I'm going on an audition tour -- so my resolution is to get ready thus far."
Frank Bloom, Marketing rep., Kirkland
"Exercise. Get in shape. I started it. It'll stick, all year. I've tried it before and had some success. I just fell off during the holidays -- Thanksgiving and Christmas."
Don Bell, Project manager, Kirkland
"Actually, the one this year -- we're doing a surprise birthday party for my mom in the Caymans. So I'm going to fly down there and visit for a week. That's probably the nicest gift I've given."
Shauna Fredericks, Nursing unit assistant, Seattle
"Because I'm going to be starting a four-year doctorate program in Naturopathic Medicine at the end of September, I'm using January to September to frolic. Take large trips. Explore the world a bit."
Brad Thorne, Cook, Kirkland
"I don't do them. I can't think of anything I want to resolve not to do. If I were to resolve to do something -- pitch a perfect game in the major leagues."
