By Ann Garretson
"What's your goal for the new year?"
(asked at Crossroads Shopping Center on 12-28-95; published in the JA on 12-31-95)
Conrad Schmidt, Illustrator-animator, Bellevue
"I'm moving to Vancouver, Canada, and opening my own animation house. I've been doing animation for years, and Vancouver is a good place to be for the film industry. There's a lot of talent out of Vancouver... I'll be moving up there at the end of January. I'm thrilled!"
Jim Farrington, Retired, Everett
"Stay healthy. I'm retired... but there's always something going on now. I don't know how I had time to go to work! I go swimming, and snow-skiing... you better stay healthy if you're going to do these things. I work at staying healthy -- pump a little iron, drink a little scotch every once in a while. Life's pretty good so far."
Eduardo Muschi, Electronic engineer, Lima, Peru
"In my country, my goal will be to get a better job. I am a manager and maybe I'm going to be a general manager... I think, for me, the main goal is a better job because it means more money and more facilities for family, for travel, for visiting other countries, and meeting new people."
Abraham Kaplan, Associate Conductor for Choral Activities, Mercer Island
"To continue to do good work, my life's work... to do my work as well as I can. And my wishes are that my children have a good life. I'm a music conductor -- I say 'music' because in the past year, especially in New York, people thought I was a subway train conductor -- and I've been involved in music all my life. This year, we have a season to prepare with the Seattle Symphony celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Seattle Symphony Chorale... I'm very, very lucky to be part of the one or two per cent of the population who can make a living doing what they love to do."
Jayme Snedeker, Student, Kirkland
"To get an Elementary Education degree. I'm getting my associate degree and then I'll transfer to another school to major in Elementary Education. I'm at a community college right now and will transfer to Central Washington University in Ellensburg to get my degree. I really love kids -- I'd like to have a pre-school in my home someday. Oh, and another goal -- to meet 'Mr. Right'!"
Alexa Crane, Student, Bellevue
"To continue my education at Central Washington University. I'm studying Business Administration and I have about another year and a half to go. Hopefully, I'll do some type of management or administrative work after I graduate -- I plan to double-major in either Human Resources or Marketing... I also want to try to get an internship this summer to get a bit of experience. I hope it's a really good year!"
